We’re Exhausted! Why Native Students Are Often Tired This Time of Year

Event time:
Tuesday, October 27, 2020 - 7:00pm
Event description:

Co-Hosted by the Native American Cultural Center & Education Studies

Fall is a season rife with stereotypes, cultural appropriation, and efforts at Native inclusion that too often tokenize Native people. Drawing on vignettes from Native students’ experiences in K-12 public schools and universities, along with reflective discussion prompts, this talk will highlight the intensified pressures Native students often experience during Fall. This talk is intended to affirm Native students who navigate such biases, while also enlisting all participants in taking responsibility for countering biases that circulate in society and schools this time of year.
