Kimberley Tsujimoto

Kimberley Tsujimoto is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a PhD in Developmental Psychology and Education. She is a certified elementary school teacher with additional training in child development and special education. Before coming to Yale, Kimberley worked as a Research Fellow in Neurosciences and Mental Health at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. There she worked on a large-scale project investigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on child and youth mental health. She serves as a co-investigator on a grant extending this project, to examine the disruption to K-12 education and how non-academic factors like motivation, engagement, and belonging, have been impacted during the pandemic. Now at Yale, she leads projects related to the early identification and instructional supports for students with learning disabilities. Together Kimberley’s research interests include the study of motivation and engagement as integral to the process of learning to read, and more broadly, the intersection between disabilities and mental health in school systems. With her colleague Joan Bosson-Heenan, she co-teaches EDST 241, Special Education and Disabilities Studies: Science, Policy, and Practice.
