Dan Adler (‘07 BA), Science Teacher, UP Academy, Lawrence, MA

Dan Adler teaches 7th grade science at UP Academy Leonard in Lawrence, Massachusetts and has been a teacher for 8 years.  In 2017, he won the Milken Educator Award (called ‘the Oscars of Teaching’) for his innovative songs and chants to teach students science
 
Hugo Faria (‘86 BA), Senior Director, SEO Scholars

Hugo Faria is the Senior Director of SEO Scholars, a free eight-year academic program that supports underserved public high school students in NY City and San Francisco to get into and through college—with a 90% college graduation rate.

 

Stefanie Nicholas (‘97 BA), Educator and Coach, Waterbury Public Schools

Stefanie Nicholas works in the Waterbury Public Schools as an English teacher, coach and a coordinator of ELL education. She previously worked for New Haven Public Schools and LEAP, a community-based organization. 

 

Patricia Melton (‘82) Executive Director, New Haven Promise

Patricia Melton directs the New Haven Promise program, a scholarship, workforce and civic development program in its 8th year in New Haven.  In 2017-18, the program supported 694 Promise Schlars with $12 million in college funding alongside 166 summer internships around Yale and New Haven.

Corinne Kentor (‘16) PhD Candidate, Columbia University Teachers College

Corinne Kentor is a third year PhD student in Anthropology & Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She graduated from Yale in 2016 and was an Education Studies Scholar. Corinne’s dissertation research focuses on the relationship between undocumented immigrant parents and the public education system.

Dan Rubins (‘16), Teacher, Astoria, NY

Dan Rubins is a New York City-based 4th grade teacher and writer. Since graduating Yale, Dan has obtained an MA in Shakespeare Studies from King’s College London and an MA in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
