The Education Studies (non-intensive) Certificate offers Yale students a flexible, coursework-focused pathway to develop expertise in education theory and research, policy and pedagogy.

Certificate Requirements
5 course credits, including
- EDST 1110 Foundations in Education Studies
- One course in Theory and Research
- One EDST course in either:
- 2 additional Education Studies electives (from any category)
Enrolling in the Education Studies Certificate
- Register for EDST 1110 Foundations in Education Studies
- Sign up for the Education Studies Certificate via Yale Hub. This must be done by the last day of add/drop period in their final term of enrollment.
Additional Details
- Following Yale guidelines about combining programs, Yale students may participate in a total of 3 academic programs including majors and certificates. For additional program information, see the Yale College Program of Study.
- Certificate Program requirements changed in Fall 2025. Students who enrolled in the Certificate prior to Fall 2025 can opt into the new requirements after August 2025 by unenrolling and then reenrolling in the Certificate on Yale Hub.
- Alternately, students who registered for the Certificate before Fall 2025 can continue with the original Certificate requirements of 5 course credits, including
- EDST 1110 Foundations in Education Studies
- One course in each category formerly known as:
- 2 additional Education Studies electives (from either category)
